Traditional club at the plate
Jülich can justifiably claim that it is fit for the Bundesliga. TTC Jülich plays at the top.
The history of table tennis in Jülich began as a subdivision of the SC Jülich 1910 e.V. soccer club. When it was dissolved in 1948, the TTC was born.
Today, the work of the TTC is based on three pillars: the professional department, which has been organizationally spun off, the amateur department and the youth department. The great integrative power of sport for young people in society, which Arnold Beginn took up with the “Turnhalle statt Straße” project launched in 1998, should not be underestimated. It is ultimately more important than discovering individual talents who have what it takes to become professionals. The TTC also organizes the mini championships, in which elementary school in the region send their youngsters to the court.
The TTC receives special recognition for its commitment to inclusion. The club made an above-average contribution to the Jülich “Host Town” project when the town hosted the sports delegation from Lebanon in the run-up to the Special Olympics in Berlin. The club was honored with the “Jülich Cliff” for its efforts.
After playing in the 1st German Table Tennis League for the last two seasons (2018/19 and 2019/20), where they were consistently without a chance, the TTC’s first team is back in the 2nd league.
The gymnasium on Berliner Straße, which belongs to the Nordschule, is the home of the TTC. The league matches are also played here.
