BSG is a home-grown company from the Research Center Jülich. The company sports association was founded in 1963 with the aim of offering the approximately 2,200 members a wide range of sports and leisure activities under modern conditions.
As the largest club in the Düren district with over 50 sports groups, it covers almost all areas of popular sports. The offers range from children’s swimming courses, fishing, weight training and chess to sports such as Aikido, Thai Bo and Zumba.
The BSG is also known for its games festivals, which in the recent past have always been celebrated on the Schlossplatz in Jülich, and above all as the organizer of international sports meetings with other European research institutions.
Jülich was the birthplace of the Atomiade, as the sports meetings of European research institutions are known, which was initiated in 1973 by BSG founding member Heinz Rhein. The “World Championship of Research Centers” was last held in Jülich in 2003.
The BSG is not only open to employees of Forschungszentrum Jülich. Anyone and everyone can become a member.
