There is one secondary school and three grammar schools. One of the grammar schools is run by the city and two by religious organizations. Two grammar schools are housed in historical buildings with modern extensions, one school is a mono-educational girls’ school.
The Abitur can also be obtained at two local vocational colleges.
Two comprehensive schools are located 8 and 12 kilometers away and are connected by public transport. As a special service, the secondary school runs a branch called “extraklasse” in cooperation with the Social Pediatric Center at St. Marien-Hospital Düren, which is designed to help children who are unable to return to school.
