Epoch festival

At Whitsun, the area around the Lindenrondell in Brückenkopf Park will be dedicated to “living history”. The “Epoch Festival” invites you to stroll from era to era.

The “Living History Festival”, as the organizers call it, aims to bring history from the 1st to the 21st century to life and also whet the appetite. Between information and market stalls, there are Theater, show fights and hands-on activities.

Prussian life in the Wilhelminian era, lansquenets from the Renaissance, Scottish Highlanders, the British Army and American GIs from the 1940s are just some of the highlights of the colorful hustle and bustle on the Lindenrondell. On both days, there will be a historical fashion show in which various garments and armor will be shown and explained. All the camps offer a variety of craft demonstrations. At some stations, visitors can also try out the crafts themselves under supervision. The groups of performers carry out various parades and marches. Swords are also crossed, of course. What would a history festival be without “battle-hungry” Celts, Vikings, Highlanders and knights? The Southern armies and the buccaneers of the Seven Seas spread gunpowder smoke.

Participation cards for the history rally are available at the park ticket offices for the Academy of History. Predefined tasks are to be completed in various presentation camps. You can try on armor, wield swords under supervision, use a bow and arrow and try your hand at a craft.

The history spectacle is rounded off by market stalls and special gastronomic offerings, including baking according to historical recipes.

What Jülich offers for

*Dividing people into age groups provides a useful way of organizing and matching interests and activities. This allows like-minded people with similar life experiences and needs to come together to encourage social interaction and shared activities. However, it should be noted that this categorization is not always universally valid, as we humans have different interests and preferences. For example, a toddler may also enjoy senior bingo. Nevertheless, we have not grouped this activity into this category. The categorization only serves as a guidance!
