The history of the Dukes & Duchesses
The baseball dukes and duchesses have their club grounds at Auenweg 8 in an idyllic location within shouting distance of Lake Barmen. A sporting success story, even if promotion to higher leagues is prevented because it is not possible to build proper changing rooms on the site.
The first baseball game in Jülich’s 2000-year history takes place on May 2, 1993. The Fringe sport quickly becomes very popular.
In 2012, the newly founded youth team for the first time in the national league and finishes its first season in the midfield of the national league. The men’s team advances to the BSVNRW Verbandsliga for the first time in the club’s history – one year later, they play in the BSVNRW’s highest league.
Another great success: The Dukes win the (unofficial) Interleague Championship in the pandemic-shortened district league season.
