The name says it all: the Stetternich-based association Gesellschaft Frohsinn lives the village community’s creative amateur art in the synergy effect between singing and theater.
The association was founded in March 1880 by 15 men, originally for the purpose of singing together. After a few interruptions in the life of the association, for example during the world wars and in the 1960s due to a lack of people in charge, the association was revived in 1992,
The association has around 100 members. They include not only the singers and actors, but also people behind the scenes, including the master painter who carries out quick repairs and alterations during dress rehearsals. The young members – the society currently has no need to worry about new blood – also help to shape the image. The choir now also sings “brisker” songs, and there are also young people among the actors. The members are between 20 and 80 years old. In addition, the vocal department has seen numerous new choirs founded, such as the a cappella ensemble “Les Chapeaux Claque” in 1998 and the women’s choir “Tonalità” in 2008. Since 2014, the men’s choir has (mainly) been involved in the theater performances.
Cheerfulness is also the aim of the theater and song evenings, in which the choir and the acting ensemble create the evening together.
