The regular bus service in Jülich is complemented or replaced by the dial-a-ride taxi (AST) in areas and times where passenger demand varies significantly. Unlike regular bus services, the dial-a-ride taxi operates only on request and takes passengers right to their doorstep, as long as it is within the service area. There are no taxi fees; instead, costs are based on public transport rates.
A flexible addition to the bus service in parts of the service areas of Jülich, Aldenhoven, Linnich, and Titz, offered Monday to Friday from 7 PM, Saturdays from 3 PM, and on Sundays and holidays from 10 AM.
It can be requested at the phone number 02421-3901910.
On weekdays, the association “Bürgerbus Jülich e.V.” additionally ensures mobility. There are 32 stops on the schedule. This allows access to the discounters in Heckfeld from the northern district, and passengers can travel from Brückenkopf Park to the city or to the train station. The city center is also part of the route, along with the cemetery. Important stops such as the municipal utilities, the hospital, the town hall, and senior facilities are included.
Approximately 9,000 passengers are transported each year. A single trip costs 1.50 euros; a round trip is 2.50 euros, and a day ticket is 3 euros. A ten-ride ticket for adults costs 11 euros, while children aged 6 to 12 pay 5 euros.
Severely disabled individuals with the appropriate identification are transported free of charge on the community bus, along with a companion.
