The Collegium Musicum Jülich is an amateur orchestra with over 70 years of tradition behind it. From small beginnings in 1941, it has developed over the last 30 years in particular into a full symphony orchestra with around 50 musicians. It has been led by professional conductors since 1987. The ensemble attaches particular importance to the involvement of young musicians. Pupils, trainees and students are very welcome in the orchestra. With this in mind, students from the surrounding music academies are also given priority when selecting soloists in order to give them the opportunity to perform with a symphony orchestra before their final exams.
The Collegium Musicum performs two concerts a year. It also performs at festive occasions and church celebrations. Its repertoire ranges from early baroque works to contemporary compositions.
